Proceeds from this assessment will be used 1) to obtain, furnish, operate and maintain fire suppression services and apparatus including, but not limited to, emergency communications systems, property inspection and chipping programs, fire engines and station equipment, and 2) to pay the cost of firefighting personnel as to assure that there are always enough personnel available to effectively respond to a fire emergency during periods of peak demand.  All assessment proceeds, aside from those needed to pay costs of administering the assessment, will be used solely for these purposes.  An independent oversight committee, comprised of property owners and local community members, will have access to the District’s accounting and audits to make sure the funds are being spent properly.  Their reports will be available to our independently elected Board of Directors and the public for review.

The North Tahoe Fire Protection District would like to thank all those who participated in this assessment by providing your vote.
