Plan Review Applications/Resources

  • 1. Review the Board-Approved Cost Recovery Schedule for applicable fees. Note: Fire Mitigation Fees also apply to your project and will be invoiced separately if required.

    2. Email the completed application, required plans, and supporting documents to plans@ntfire.net. Include the project address in the subject line. If files are too large, multiple emails are acceptable or a file-sharing link (e.g., Dropbox). All attachments shall be in PDF format only.

    3. Once received, an invoice will be issued via Square (3.5% credit card fee applies).

    • By Check: Do not include the credit card service fee. Make the check payable to North Tahoe Fire and mail to or drop-off:

      • NTFPD, Attn: Plans, PO Box 5879, Tahoe City, CA 96145

      • For Drop-off or UPS/FedEx 222 Fairway Dr., Tahoe City, CA 96145

    4. Reviews are completed within 15 business days after payment. Expedited reviews are not available.

    • All non-approved plan reviews will require resubmittal and will restart the 15-business-day review period.

    • The 15-business-day turnaround does not include holidays or office closures.

    Closed 12:00–1:00 PM for lunch and on all major holidays.

  • All plan submittals are placed in a review queue. During periods of high workload, turnaround times may be extended. To ensure fairness and consistency for all applicants, expedited or priority plan review requests cannot be accommodated.

    Each review has a 15-business-day turnaround beginning the day payment of plan review cost recovery fees is received. Once your review is complete, our office will contact you via email.

    All non-approved plan reviews will require resubmittal and will restart a new 15-business-day review period.

    Invoices are issued via Square.com once a complete submittal or resubmittal is received.

    • Credit card payments include a 3.5% service fee.

    • Check payments do not include this fee and may be mailed or dropped off at our front office. Please visit our Contact Us page for the mailing address.

    How to Calculate Business Days
    Business days are Monday through Thursday, excluding holidays and office closures.

    To calculate your 15-business-day turnaround:

    1. Start counting on the next business day after your payment is received.

    2. Do not count weekends, holidays, or office closure days.

    3. Continue counting until you reach 15 business days — that will be the estimated date your review will be completed.

    Example:
    If payment is received on Monday, October 6, day one of the turnaround period is Tuesday, October 7. Counting 15 business days (and skipping any holidays or closures) gives an estimated completion date of Tuesday, November 4.
