ABOUT OUR DISTRICT
The North Tahoe Fire Protection District was established in 1993 through the consolidation of the Tahoe City Fire Protection District (Tahoe City, CA) and the North Tahoe Fire Protection District (Kings Beach, CA). In 2025, the District expanded its service area through the annexation of the Meeks Bay Fire Protection District.
Today, the District serves the north and west shores of Lake Tahoe, providing fire protection and emergency services across 32 square miles. This service is delivered by a team of 65 year-round personnel, including uniformed personnel as well as staff in administration, fire prevention, facilities, and fleet/vehicle operations, supported by 5 seasonal fire prevention employees.
This map helps illustrate the size of the District.
