WHAT IS THE COST OF THE INSPECTION?

• FIRE COST RECOVERY SCHEDULE

• The 2026 cost recovery fee is $204, plus a 3.5% credit card processing fee

• One (1) re-inspection will be conducted at no cost if the property fails the initial inspection

• NTF conducts defensible space inspections required for Short-Term Rental (STR) permits within the district and collects the associated fees

  • Fees are collected directly by NTF and are not part of the Placer County STR Program

  • An invoice will be issued via Square.com to the email provided after the inspection is conducted

• After the inspection:

  • The invoice from Square.com will be emailed to the contact on the request form

  • A report will be emailed from FPO@ntfire.net

  • To avoid delays, pay the invoice promptly

WHEN CAN INSPECTIONS BE PERFORMED?

• This inspection will only be conducted when snow is clear from the ground

WHEN DO I GET MY REPORT?

• After the inspection is conducted, the report will be e-mailed to the contacts provided on the inspection booking

• A copy of the report will also be e-mailed to the Placer County Short-Term Rental office

HOW DO I SCHEDULE MY INTERIOR FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY INSPECTION?

• Placer county short-term rental staff conduct this inspection

HOW DO THE BOOKING CALENDARS WORK?

• Rolling Calendar: Each day at midnight, inspection slots for the date 30 days out will open, if that date is an available inspection day.
