PLACER COUNTY STRs PERMIT RENEWALS

THE FOLLOWING FORMS ARE TO REQUEST A DEFENSIBLE SPACE INSPECTION FOR A PERMIT UNDERGOING RENEWAL (3 YEAR INSPECTION CYCLE)

The request forms will open Monday, May 4, 2026

WHAT IS THE COST OF THE INSPECTION?

  • FIRE COST RECOVERY SCHEDULE

  • The 2026 cost recovery fee is $204, plus a 3.5% credit card processing fee

  • One (1) re-inspection will be conducted at no cost if the property fails the initial inspection

  • NTF conducts defensible space inspections required for Short-Term Rental (STR) permits within the district and collects the associated fees

    • Fees are collected directly by NTF and are not part of the Placer County STR Program

    • An invoice will be issued via Square.com to the email provided once the inspection is conducted

  • After the inspection:

    • A report will be emailed from FPO@ntfire.net

    • To avoid delays, pay the invoice promptly

WHAT DO I DO TO PREPARE FOR THE INSPECTION?

WHEN CAN INSPECTIONS BE PERFORMED?

  • This inspection will only be conducted when snow is clear from the ground

  • Once a thorough cleanup of the property has been completed

WHEN DO I GET MY INSPECTION?

  • Once a request is submitted, the property will be placed on a list

  • Inspectors will conduct the inspection within four (4) weeks of request

  • The inspection will not be scheduled for a specific date or time and may occur at any point after the request is submitted

    • For this reason, please ensure that your defensible space work has been completed before submitting your request

WHEN DO I GET MY REPORT?

  • After the inspection is conducted, the report will be e-mailed to the contacts provided on the request form

  • Reports may take up to five (5) business to be finalized

  • A copy of the report will also be e-mailed to the Placer County Short-Term Rental office
